1. The Chief Minister of Selangor - Selangor Menteri Besar.
As the Selangor State Park protects the quality of life for the entire state of Selangor, as well as for KL and Putrajaya, the Chief Minister is one of the most important people to ensure the long-term protection and sustainable management of the Park. We would also suggest that any issue relating to the Park, you write to him (perhaps someday, her) and let him direct your concern to the proper agency, or at least include him as a "cc" in any letter or e-mail you may send.
2. The Selangor Forestry Department
The Selangor Forestry Department is in charge of the Park overall, as the Park is gazetted under as a 'State Park' under the National Forestry Act Selangor Enactment 2005.
3. The District Offices and Local Councils
The Park falls under 3 districts, and 3 local councils - Majlis Daerah Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat. Majlis Perbandaran Selayang, Ampang Jaya and Kajang. Many of these departments run recreational sites that are within or next to the Park. They carry out a number of development plans within and affecting the Park, the most recent being the Draft Local Plans 2020.
4. Department of Mineral and Geo-science
This department also has a strong interest in the Park - the steep terrain of the Park, the number of interesting geological features such as hotsprings, waterfalls, quartz ridges (particularly the Klang Gates Quartz Ridge).
5. LUAS and the private water supply companies
Lembaga Urus Air Selangor (LUAS) is in charge of managing the water resources for the state. As the Park protects 98% of these resources, LUAS has a strong interest in the management and well-being of the forests in Taman Negeri Selangor. A number of private water companies are in charge of the dams that are found within and next to the Park.
6. The federal government
Many projects and plans are made at the federal government level. These plans can have an impact on the Park. One recent example is the KL Outer Ring Road.
7. NGOs, resident groups, nature lovers and concerned residents like you.
For example, Treat Every Environment Special S/B (TrEES) is a non-profit environment organisation that has been working for the establishment and long term conservation of the Park since 1998. There are a number of NGOs, resident groups and nature lovers who look out for the Park. We hope you are one of them!
