Proposed Amendments to the Rancangan Tempatan MPAJ 2020

MPAJ has invited residents to give feedback on 40 proposed changes to the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council Draft Local Plan 2020 by 14 October 2014.

Local zoning changes to Bukit Tabur (KGQR)

Hulu Gombak & Ampang Forest Reserves

Bukit Tabur is part Taman Warisan Negeri Selangor. But the slopes on the southern side are not part of the Park. Sadly, the maps in the RT MPAJ 2020 still do not show the location of the Park.   Why is the local council proposing a land use that will harm the state’s efforts to get this area recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site, as well as degrade the Ridge's prominence as a key feature of th Park?

The Hulu Gombak & Ampang Forest Reserves are also part of the Park, but again, there is no indication on the map that the Park exists.

Even more worrying is the alignment of the EKVE – The alignment is not listed as a proposed amendment in this map. However, we find it very objectionable that both Phase 1 & Phase 2 of the EKVE have been included in the gazetted local plan. 

Over 16,000 objections have been sent to the Selangor State Government objecting to the alignment of this expressway. Furthermore, Phase 2 was not approved under the DEIA for the project.
